Share investing
Sharesies - I still use Sharesies for the @moneybren portfolio mostly out of convenience, but it is still the best platform to buy NZ stocks if you regularly deal in large sums (over $10k). Strangely it's really expensive for small sums even though it's supposed to be a platform for beginners. If you're purely indexing there are cheaper options.
InvestNow - The best value to buy index funds and set and forget, especially the World and S&P500 funds. If you just want to index and invest regularly, this is the best place. Ideal for beginners and a good choice for your Kiwisaver too.
Kernel - Similar to InvestNow but runs its own funds, and slightly more expensive. I have my Kiwisaver with them, just an easy provider to deal with and offers great service.
Interactive Brokers - I manage much of my personal portfolio here, it's one of the world's biggest brokers and offers you access to almost every market (except NZ for some strange reason). Not for beginners and quite difficult to navigate if you're not familiar with finance things.
Matched Betting
Matched betting became impossible to do in New Zealand in 2024 after the government banned all foreign bookmakers from the country, including Australia. Now the only place you can bet is TAB, which barely gives promos now that they're a monopoly.

Flipping
I still use AliExpress and Alibaba for almost everything. Temu is also good and ships promptly to NZ for most things. Read my free guide on getting started with flipping here.

Courses
In the book I talked briefly about building my own courses and made a small side income from that. I now host the courses here on my own site, but I started with a free account on Thinkific which was perfect.
Niche sites
Personally I wouldn't recommend getting into the sites business right now. The landscape is changing so much with ChatGPT and AI search, and many sites are becoming obsolete. However, if you do want to start a blog or niche site I recommend getting a Dreamhost account and building a basic WordPress site. I have a guide on building your first site here.
