Bitcoin

Bitcoin is still the biggest position in the portfolio so that's where most of the volatility has come from and the reason why the portfolio is down significantly. Bitcoin has moved between $95k and $58k this year so pretty big movements.

I'm torn between adding to the position since it's such a good price and trying to be prudent since it's already 26% of the allocation.

The reality is I'm not seeing that many good value positions to add right now other than Summerset, which is also a very big position.

So the options are to just sit on the cash I have right now or be aggressive, have not yet decided.

If we follow the 4-year cycle Bitcoin has kept since its inception, it should bottom in Q3/Q4 this year (which is now!) so now is the time to be adding if at all.

At this point we're about breakeven on our Bitcoin position after adding a lot to the position during 2024/2025. Still very confident we reach new highs around 2028.

New side hustles?

The portfolio isn't really bringing in new income at the moment.

I did have the launch for my new book The First $100K (thanks to all who supported!) and that made some money, but I am giving about half of it away. Books usually aren't big money makers, but they're one of the best teaching tools and I'm really glad I took the time to publish it because it wasn't easy! You can grab your copy here!

As many of may have heard, EasyCrypto got closed down as it was acquired by Swyftx in Australia, unfortunately EasyCrypto was a big part of my affiliate income for this blog as I've been promoting them for about 4-5 years now. So I've lost all my referrals there and will need to start again with Swyftx from zero. Since it's an Australian outfit I don't think it will convert as well, even though I've used them and they're pretty good.

I have a few niche sites still bringing in a few hundred bucks a month but other than that, any new cash will be coming in from dividends only.

I have been looking for a new side hustle to try but nothing really piques my interest at the moment. I have considered getting back into matched betting, but I feel like that's been demonstrated pretty well already and remember the point of the portfolio isn't just to make money but to show lots of different options for people to get started.

I am quite busy with other stuff in my life too (writing the book took up a lot of time as well!) so quite happy for the portfolio to just tick along for now, but at some stage I'd like to get back into hustling and making some cash for this thing. Hitting half a mil will be awesome and I'm sure will really motivate a lot of people.

Pretty quiet quarter

Not much to report otherwise. I'm always hunting for new positions - recently did a dive into Lululemon and I like it, but haven't opened anything yet. Portfolio remains mostly unchanged since last quarter, just adding to existing positions.

Remember - good investing is usually boring. Success doesn't come from the buy and selling, but the waiting.
